DebbieSackman PhotoDeborah “Debbie” Sackman began her career in information technology as a small-business owner developing software for the first personal computers and providing consulting services to small businesses seeking to use personal computers to run their businesses more effectively. Sackman’s experience includes full lifecycle application development on small to large enterprise projects; establishing and managing help desk operations; technology assessment and insertion; IT/business strategic planning and execution; product line management; and sales support. She has owned and operated three small businesses and worked in leadership positions at multiple commercial software and hardware vendors, as well for multiple consulting firms supporting Department of Defense organizations. Sackman holds a Bachelor of Science in computer science with a minor in business from the University of Maryland.

Her daughter is a rising sophomore and pre-vet student double majoring in biology and chemistry with a business minor. Sackman, along with her husband and daughter, were active supporters in the Saving Sweet Briar movement, participating in everything from social media to legal cases. The Sackmans are now are focused on helping the new Sweet Briar College not just survive, but flourish for many generations.
